Once again its that time of the week! Welcome new and returning participants. One update and one suggestion:

We will be posting the "listening program" about seven hours (at least) prior to the closing of the event. The event, of course, will stay open and all submissions will be added to the playlist up until the countdown ticker on the front page expires. This is so our friends in later time zones will have the collated program up and ready for Saturday night listening.

For new members, we have always encouraged participants to show off their works at major social networks, in addition to posting here of course, like their Twitter or Facebook page while posting "ImprovFriday" somewhere in the description (new members should note IF actually operated like that without its own site for most of 2009). Anyway, I discovered a page at Facebook that I would suggest posting in addition to your own page. Its at a FB group called, "Music on the Fringe." Philip Mantione, a new member here, runs that group and as you can see/hear, the music is right up our alley.

JC Combs - Cross Station

A collage from random sounds via Freesound.org.
Don't wanna give it away but there is some great panning in Cross Station - my head was turning!
Glad your head spun. For once I didn't pan anything, but the varied assortment of sounds coming from different sides panned for themselves.

Nice start guys!
I'm traveling so I'll miss most of the fun but will check in to listen to the playlist Sunday evening.
I did get this little disco vamp done to get pumped up for the drive.
It's basically a simple improvisation with supporting patterns that form a 2' minimalist dom7/mixo groove intro-like whatchamacallit. feel free to mess with it if so moved.

for the road - bruce hamilton

have a great weekend!
Hoping this shows up here properly this week... for the first time, if it does! In a mood to make tight harmonies and dissonances this morning (it's 1:10 am on Friday here) but which soothe rather than irritate. My sister-in-law is dying of cancer and I've been spending a lot of time with her, worrying about her, trying to soothe her, trying to ease things. This is probably an outgrowth from that.

Carla
sad news. but good that you're posting again, Carla!

Nice to see you back, Carla. Your improv is aptly named and deeply felt. My best to you through your difficult time.
